Term 2 - Week 10

We have has another busy week in Room 16, with the highlight for the children being the school disco on Wednesday night. They all had a great time dancing as you can see in the photos below:

Our letter of the week this week was t so the children made tiger masks. We have been learning the sounds s, a, t and p.

Our maths topic this week and next week is measurement. The children brought a soft toy from home and we used them for lots of measuring work.

First of all we compared our soft toy to a friends to see which toy was shortest and which was tallest.

Here are Cohen and Zac with their toys. Cohen's toy was the tallest and Zac's was the shortest.
Next the whole class worked together to line up the toys from shortest to tallest. The toys made a very long line.

Finally the children all used cubes to measure how long their toy was.

We have been writing about the frost this week as well. We went out on a cold and frosty morning to see what the frost felt like. Here the children are checking it out:

They came up with some amazing words to describe it like crunchy and freezing and then used them in their writing.

We have also been learning to play marbles as part of of play topic. Here the children are concentrating very hard, marbles is very difficult, but Anna is a marbles champion.

Our stars of the week were Stirling and Sid. Stirling has been working really hard on his reading and is making super progress and Sid is my amazing helper when it comes to tidying the class. Here they are with their certificates:

Finally, congratulations to Lydia and Sid who have both filled their sticker charts this week.
